Bishkek, Jan. 19, 2022. / Kabar /. More than 1,700 children were injured in road accidents in Kyrgyzstan in 2021. This is 43.8% more than in 2020, the press service of the Main Department for Road Safety of Kyrgyzstan said.
According to data, 7,437 road accidents were registered in the country for 12 months of 2021, which is 21.3% more than in the previous year.
“Most of all traffic accidents occurred due to the fault of drivers. Accidents are mainly caused by speeding, improper maneuvering on the road, driving into the oncoming lane, overtaking on the opposite side of the road, as well as drunk driving,” said Ymanaly Sarkulov, Deputy Head of the Main Department for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan said.
Road traffic accidents involving children amounted to 1,791, which is 43.8% more than in the previous year.
Deputy Minister Oktyabr Urmambetov noted that the issues of ensuring road safety in the country remain of high social importance and are still in the focus of attention of state authorities and society, and also called on those who gathered in the coming year to strengthen comprehensive work to create safe conditions for all categories of road users.
