Bishkek, June 29, 2022. /Kabar/. Failure to observe personal hygiene can lead to alveococcosis, echinococcosis and other parasitic diseases, parasitologist Zhumagul Usubalieva said at a special event in Bishkek.
She said changing people's behavior and urging them to be clean would help solve serious problems.
"Dirty hands can lead to serious diseases. For example, alveococcosis is treated for a long time, sometimes for life. It takes at least 3 years to fully recover from echinococcosis. The easiest way to prevent the disease is not to give raw innards of cattle to dogs when slaughtering animals, once in every 3 months to treat pets from parasites, wash hands with soap and water, eat fruits and vegetables after washing under running water, drink clean water and follow other rules of hygiene. Unfortunately, more than 15,000 new cases of alveococcosis and echinococcosis are registered annually in Kyrgyzstan. Ninety percent of those infected are children under the age of 14," Usubalieva said.
The specialist noted that after the event, a three-year prevention program for diseases caused by parasitic diseases will be adopted between health workers and international consultants.
