Over 170 members of organized crime groups detained in Kyrgyzstan in 2020

Bishkek, Jan. 27, 2021. /Kabar/. The Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Criminal Militia Service of Kyrgyzstan’s Internal Affairs Ministry carried out a number of organizational measures to suppress illegal actions by representatives of the criminal environment.

According to the press service of the Interior Ministry, measures are taken to prevent and suppress robbery and extortion against citizens and business entities, to combat the legalization of proceeds of crime, as well as work is ongoing together with relevant state bodies to identify the sources of funding of organized criminal groups, measures to solve previously committed crimes are implemented.

Thus, during a twelve-month period of 2020, 172 subjects of organized crime were detained and prosecuted by internal affairs officers for various crimes.

Among the detained subjects of organized crime 9 people have a high status in the criminal environment.

According to the General Directorate of Information Technology of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 1 thousand 76 people are on the operational record of the ministry as members of organized crime.

During the period under review, employees of the Department for Combating Organized Crime registered 55 criminal cases in the Unified Register of Crimes and Misdemeanors, which are currently being investigated.

Besides, 403 crimes of general criminal nature were solved in 2020, including murder, robbery, rape, extortion, fraud, theft, illegal possession of drugs, etc.

22 persons sought who were fleding from investigation and trial were detained.
