Over $ 170 mln of donor assistance used to cover budget expenses - Asrandiev

Bishkek, July 10, 2020 /Kabar/. Almost USD 171 million from donor assistance went to cover budget expenditures, Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Erkin Asrandiev told at news briefing.

He said that in connection with the current situation on the spread of coronavirus infection in the country's budget, there are large losses in terms of revenue. And in this regard, the assistance received from donors in the form of grants and benefits goes to cover budget expenditures.

Asrandiev noted that basically all the funds received from donors in the form of aid are spent in two directions: budget support and the fight against COVID-19.

“Of the received USD 321 million USD 170.8 million went to cover the budget: wages, social contributions, transfers to the Social Fund, leveling transfers, benefits, purchase of medical goods and services, strategic stocks (purchase of grain), the purchase of food products for the population in a difficult life situation due to the introduction of restrictions to combat the coronavirus,” the official said.
