Bishkek, April 11, 2022. / Kabar /. 2,090 cases of viral hepatitis were registered in Kyrgyzstan, in 2021 against 4,805 cases in 2020, which indicates a 2.3-fold decrease in the incidence of hepatitis.
According to data of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, of all registered cases in 2021:
- Hepatitis A amounted to 91.6%, which can be transmitted by environmental factors - water, food, "dirty" hands and household items.
- hepatitis B amounted to 5.7%;
- hepatitis C amounted to 2.5%;
Hepatitis B and C are transmitted from sick to healthy person through infected blood. Most often, infection occurs when:
- transfusion of infected donor blood;
- when using one infected needle by different people. This is the most common way of infection among drug addicts;
- with unprotected sexual contact. Hepatitis B is most commonly transmitted sexually.
