Over 2 tons of drugs seized in Kyrgyzstan since beginning of year

Bishkek, Oct. 22, 2021 . / Kabar / . More than 2 tons of drugs were seized by officers of the Service for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking this year, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Internal Ministry said Friday.

An operational meeting was held on Oct. 20, at which results of activities of units of the Service for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 9 months of the current year were discussed.

During the meeting, an increase in the seizure of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors compared to the same period last year was noted.

Thus, for nine months of 2021, 416 facts were registered in the Unified Register of Crimes and Misdemeanors (388 drug crimes and 28 misdemeanors).

In addition, 2 tons 402 kg 709 g of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors were seized, which is 76.9% of all drugs seized by bodies of internal affairs.

"During the current period, a large amount of heavy drugs were seized: 7 kg 281 g of opium, 6 kg 40 g of heroin, 123 kg 799 g of cannabis resin (hashish)," the report said.

Large-scale special operations were carried out together with law enforcement bodies of Russia and Kazakhstan, as the result of which 46 kg 476 g of hashish were seized on the territory of the Russian Federation and 7 kg 700 g of opium and 1 kg 100 g of hashish on the territory of Kazakhstan.
