Bishkek, March 13, 2024. /Kabar/. More than 3.5 thousand schoolchildren of Kyrgyzstan at the age of 15 will take part in pilot testing as part of the international study PISA 2025, PISA national manager Onolkan Umankulova told at a press conference at Kabar Agency.
According to her, the selection will be carried out by representatives of two international organizations, which previously identified 66 schools in which the study will be conducted.
“It is planned to select about 57 children from each school,” she said.
Umankulova also noted that testing will be conducted in Kyrgyz and Russian languages. The results of the study will not show the level of education in Kyrgyzstan, and they will not be counted.
Kyrgyzstan took part in the international PISA study twice - in 2006 and 2009. According to the results of the PISA 2009 assessment in Kyrgyzstan, about 83.2% of students did not achieve the minimum international standard (level 2 out of 6) in reading literacy, 86.6% in mathematics literacy and 82% in science literacy.
International Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is the test assessing the literacy of schoolchildren in different countries of the world and the ability to apply knowledge in practice. It takes place every three years since 2000.
