Bishkek, Oct. 11, 2021 . / Kabar / . Poland provided Kyrgyzstan with 55,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine under the European Union (EU) Civil Protection Mechanism.
The EU Delegation to Kyrgyzstan reported that the cargo with vaccines was met Monday at Manas airport by Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development Uluk-Bek Bekturganov, Deputy Ambassador of Poland to Kyrgyzstan (with residence in Nur-Sultan) Tomasz Kollat and European Union Ambassador Eduard Auer.
Uluk-Bek Bekturganov thanked the Polish Government for its assistance and noted that the shipment received would soon be distributed to vaccination sites.
In turn, Deputy Ambassador of Poland Tomasz Kollat said the vaccines are a continuation of Poland's assistance to the brotherly Kyrgyz people.
"The European Union and EU member states have been supporting Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of the pandemic. Medical devices, personal protective equipment, and psychological and counseling assistance were provided. After the development of vaccines, they were made available through the COVAX program, in which the EU invested EUR 2.5 billion. The fight against the pandemic requires everyone's efforts and only together can we overcome these difficult times," said Ambassador Eduard Auer, thanking the government of Poland for the cargo provided to Kyrgyzstan.
