Over 6 thsd patients die from smoking-related diseases in Kyrgyzstan every year

Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2021 /Kabar/. More than 6 thousand patients die annually in Kyrgyzstan from diseases related to tobacco use, Turusbek Abdyldaev, head of the department of the National Center of Oncology and Hematology, told during a press conference at Kabar Agency.

He said that the smoking leads to lung cancer, which has varieties that lead to death in 1 year.

“It has been proven that men and women who smoke 22 times more likely to have cancer than non-smokers. In recent years, lung cancer ranks 4th in the country as the cause of death of citizens. The incidence is growing every year, this is directly related to the use of tobacco. Young people are very fond of smoking and children under 15 years old, they smoke hookahs, electronic cigarettes. Unfortunately, there is a huge choice in the market for them,” he said.
