Bishkek, April 26, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Bishkek Territorial Elections Commission (TEC) approved the results of the referendum (nationwide voting), the Central Elections Commission of Kyrgyzstan said Monday.
The Bishkek TEC held a final meeting on April 25, at which it considered all the complaints and applications received by the Commission and approved the results of the constitutional referendum at the polling stations in Bishkek.
The number of voters made up 130 thousand 215 voters, of whom 78 thousand 854 votes (60.55%) were cast "for", and 46 996 votes "against"; and at the polling stations outside Kyrgyzstan, where the number of voters was 3 thousand 168 voters, of whom 2 thousand 484 votes were cast "for", and 668 votes "against".
The referendum on the new Constitution was held on April 11, 2021.
A referendum to determine the form of government in Kyrgyzstan was held on Jan. 10 of this year, along with the early presidential elections. Then the presidential form of government was supported by 81.49 percent of voters. After that, a Constitutional Counsel was created, which developed a new draft of the Constitution.
