As of March 1, 2021, Kyrgyzstan's economic entities of all categories produced 60.7 thousand tons of meat in live weight, which is 572 tons or 1% more compared with the same period last year, the press service of the country's Agriculture Ministry said on Sunday.
The increase in meat production is due to the growth of the number of farm animals, except pigs and poultry.
According to the National Statistics Committee, as of Jan. 1, 2021 the number of cattle increased by 35 thousand heads and amounted to 1715.7 thousand heads, sheep and goats amounted to 6278.7 thousand heads, horses - to 539.6 thousand heads.
The number of poultry increased by 201,400 and amounted to 6211,100 heads, the number of pigs decreased by 5,300 and amounted to 29,400 heads and the number of poultry decreased by 140,700 and amounted to 6070,400 heads.
All regions of the republic produced more meat than the corresponding period in 2020.
In addition, in January-February 2021 milk production in the country amounted to 165.8 thousand tons, which is 2,634 tons or 1.6% more in comparison with the corresponding period last year.
Milk production increased in all regions of the republic, which is due to the growth of the number of cows by 19.7 thousand heads and the average milk yield per cow by 3.5 kg.
