Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2019. /Kabar/. Over 7 million foreigners entered Kyrgyzstan in 2018, Chairman of the State Migration Service Bolotbek Ibraimjanov told during a meeting in the Government House.
He said that these are mainly citizens of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, China, Korea, Russia, Uzbekistan.
“In 2018, 12 thousand 950 people received a work permit, of which 70% were Chinese citizens,” the Chairman said.
He further added that it is very difficult to determine the number of illegal migrants today, it is also impossible to establish their citizenship and so on due to the lack of a control mechanism.
“Some illegal migrants want to work and live in Kyrgyzstan, last year more than 100 thousand people from border countries freely crossed the border and had no control over them. And such a flow of people is more often low-skilled. We need to attract good specialists, introduce an automated interdepartmental system, which will include the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Foreign Ministry and other departments to control the situation,” Ibraimjanov said.
The official noted that there is no single body in the Kyrgyz Republic that carries out thorough monitoring on this issue.
“Today there is a need to create a unified Migration Center. In connection with the introduction of the Single Register of Crimes and Offenses from this year, we cannot deport foreigners, therefore, we need to create such centers where illegal immigrants could be detained to find out the circumstances,” the Chairman said.
