Bishkek, Sept. 3, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, Sept. 3, as part of his working visit to Chui Oblast, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov familiarized with the progress of the project to provide clean drinking water to Alekseyevka village of Jaiyl region, his press service reported.
Deputy Director of the State Agency for Water Resources Saipidin Momunov said that due to obsolescence of the drinking water supply system in Alekseyevka village, for many years, most of the village had problems with access to clean water.
For this purpose, within the project on sustainable development of rural water supply, wells have been restored through the Community Development and Investment Agency (ARIS), reconstruction of wells and pumping units has been carried out and construction of water supply systems has been completed.
To date, all construction works have been completed and over 8 thousand residents of the village have access to clean drinking water.
Talking to local residents, Sooronbay Jeenbekov expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of this project and noted that this is a key component of the state policy on regional development.
The Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project is implemented by ARIS jointly with the World Bank and is aimed at rehabilitation of water supply systems and improvement of sanitation in settlements of the country.
In total, ARIS together with international development partners, intends to implement projects to provide clean water in 208 villages and 2 cities of the country by 2024.
As President Jeenbekov noted earlier, by 2024 the issue of clean water supply will be solved in all regions of the country - 822 villages of the country will have access to clean drinking water.
Over the past two years, access to clean water has been provided in 122 villages of the republic.
