Pahlavani winners in the Third World Nomad Games

Bishkek, Sept. 05, 2018. /Kabar/. On September 4, pahlavani competitions took place at the Physical Culture and Health Complex Baktuu-Dolonotu village, Issyk-Kul oblast, 48 sportsmen from 25 countries took part in the competitions.

up to 70 kg:

1 place– Mohammad Naderi – Iran– 70 thousand soms;

2 place– Kurbat Azizbaev – Kyrgyzstan– 35 thousand soms;

3 place– Dzhalal Suleymanov – Azerbaijan– 17 thousand 500 soms;

3 place– Arslan Serkhat – Turkey- 17 thousand 500 soms.

up to 80 kg:

1 place– Omid Hassan Tabar Jelodar – Iran- 70 thousand soms;

2 place– Parchat Biachimov – Turkmenistan- 35 thousand soms;

3 place– Ming Ganbaiyila – China- 17 thousand 500 soms;

3 place– Aivar Hasanov – Tajikistan- 17 thousand 500 soms.

Absolute weight category:

1 place– Jaber Sadeghzadeh – Iran- 70 thousand soms;

2 place– Serik Beredmurat – Mongolia- 35 thousand soms;

3 place– Roman Bakirov – Azerbaijan- 17 thousand 500 soms;

Pahlavani is a generic name for the traditional wrestling in ancient Persia and contemporary Iran, which is the most respected sport in Iran and which has a very long history.

This wrestling is a part of the traditional Persian martial arts. The national wrestling style in Iran is koshtipahlavani or also known as zurhane style.

The fighting technique of koshtipahlavani is very diverse and is one of the best examples of free-style wrestling.
