Bishkek, Sept. 26, 2020. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, the service sector was most severely affected during the pandemic, the press service of the country’s Economy Ministry reported.
According to its data, the gross output of the service sector in January-August 2020 made KGS 254.7 billion, with a real growth rate of 90.2%.
The influence of the service sector on the economic growth rate was negative, and the contribution to the GDP formation made up (-) 4,6%, the share in the GDP production structure made up 46,5%.
Gross output of wholesale and retail trade services in January-August 2020 amounted to KGS 76 billion, and in real terms it decreased by 16.8%.
Gross output of transportation services for the reporting period made up KGS 19 billion, real growth rates fell by 39.1%. The fall in transportation services was caused by a decline in air traffic and road transport both within the country and to other countries.
In general, since the end of the first quarter, there have been monthly strong drops, sometimes reaching 6% per month. At the end of August, indicators of this sector remain at the level of July of this year, which means that the decline in this sector is gradually ceasing and is moving into the recovery phase.
Gross output of information and communication sector for the reporting period made up KGS 18.9 billion, and growth rate made up 100.4%.
