Bishkek, Mar. 22, 2019. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Nikolai Udovichenko.
The Speaker congratulated Udovichenko on the start of his diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan and wished him success in his future work. During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of political and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, the press service of the Parliament reported.
Dzhumabekov stressed that Kyrgyzstan attaches particular importance to the development of relations with Russia in all areas of interstate ties based on the principles of mutual understanding, mutual benefit and support. The Speaker also noted the high degree of trust between the two countries established in recent years, as evidenced by the planned state visit of President of the Russian Federation Putin to Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, the sides raised the issue of inter-parliamentary cooperation. Dzhumabekov said that inter-parliamentary cooperation occupies a special place in establishing and strengthening relations between states. “The close cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries serves as a solid basis for building constructive relations. I am very pleased to note the close cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries in the framework of such inter-parliamentary associations as the CIS IPA (Interparliamentary Assembly), the CSTO PA (Parliamentary Assembly),” Dzhumabekov said.
Speaking about trade and economic cooperation, the sides came to the conclusion that the potential in this area should be increased. Thee Speaker expressed his gratitude to the Russian side for the material and technical assistance provided in accordance with the bilateral intergovernmental agreement on assistance in the framework of the process of joining the EAEU.
Udovichenko, in turn, thanked Dzhumabekov for the warm welcome, and also added that in his diplomatic activity he would focus on issues of developing cooperation in all areas.
He noted that within the framework of the state visit of President of the Russian Federation Putin a number of important events are planned, including the Interregional Conference; business forum with the signing of a number of agreements in the trade, economic and investment spheres; and also the forum of rectors, in which rectors of major Russian universities will take part and a youth forum.
“We are interested in expanding cooperation in all areas with Kyrgyzstan,” Udovichenko said.
At the end of the conversation, the Speaker wished the Ambassador success in his responsible activities aimed at developing Kyrgyz-Russian relations.
