Peace rally for women's rights held in Bishkek

Bishkek, March 10, 2020. / Kabar /. A peaceful rally for women's rights and against violence took place today in Bishkek.

The rally is a reaction to the detention of activists during a march in support of women on March 8. Many were outraged by the impunity of unknown men who attacked the march participants.

As part of the action, the moderators voiced a number of requirements - to bring to justice the employees of the Sverdlovsk police department, the publication of the results of the investigation of the March 8 incident.

In total, about 500 people, mostly girls, went to the action.

Recall, earlier on March 8, the Bishkek Feminist Initiatives tried to hold a march of solidarity. But the action was foiled by provocateurs. About 50 people were detained and taken to the police department. Participants claim to have received injuries and bruises from unlawful actions. Later, all the detainees were released. Activists demand the resignation of the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital due to the actions of their subordinates.
