Bishkek, May 3, 2020 / Kabar /. Peak incidence of COVID-19 have passed in Kyrgyzstan, head of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for the Control of Viral Infections Zuridin Nurmatov told on Sunday.
He said that earlier, according to forecasts, the peak incidence of coronavirus infection in the country was projected on April 20-24. “But we can say that we had a peak from April 11 to 20, that is, one and a half weeks earlier than predicted. This is due to the introduction of a quarantine regime, as well as the observance of preventive measures on the part of the population. Also, mortality rates are low in the country compared to other countries,” Nurmatov said.
He also noted that the analysis of incidence shows that from the 5th week after the outbreak began, a decrease in the incidence rate began.
The specialist expressed hope that by the end of May the number of daily new cases of COVID-19 infection will be reduced to the maximum.
To date, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan has reached 745, including 137 medical workers. A total of 564 people have recovered and ten have died.
