Permanent rep of Kyrgyzstan takes part in 28th ECO Ministerial Council Meeting

Bishkek, Dec.6, 2024. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the Islamic Republic of Iran - Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Turdakun Sydykov took part in the 28th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the ECO member countries, which took place in Mashhad.

In his speech, the ambassador noted the importance of effective utilization of the potential of trade, economic and investment relations between the ECO member countries, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.

Highlighting the role of development and strengthening of transit-transport cooperation in the ECO area, Turdakun Sydykov noted that the Kyrgyz Republic, as a landlocked country, together with other ECO countries participates in the development of East-West and North-South transport corridors.

He also emphasized the importance of further implementation of the strategic project of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad, contributing to the growth of international trade and investment, transport and logistics and transit potential of Central Asia.

The head of the Kyrgyz delegation noted the importance of ensuring energy security in the ECO region, including the implementation of the project on construction of Kambarata HPP-1, completion of construction of energy infrastructure facilities under the international project CASA-1000, as well as the signing by the Kyrgyz Republic on the margins of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC-29) in Baku of the Charter of the ECO Clean Energy Center.

Sydykov thanked the ECO member states for their support and participation in the “High Level Dialogue: Promoting the Mountain Agenda, Mainstreaming Mountains and Climate Change” event, organized by Kyrgyzstan together with Azerbaijan and Mongolia on the margins of the COP-29 Conference.

In this context, the ambassador invited the ECO member states to participate in the Second Global Mountain Summit “Bishkek+25” to be held in June 2026.

The 28th ECO Ministerial Council meeting resulted in the adoption of the Mashhad Communiqué.
