Petrol price increases by 50% in Turkmenistan

RIA-Novosti reports that starting from 1 February the petrol price has seen an increase of 50%.

The price for a liter of 95 grade petrol rose from 1 to 1,5 manats whereas a liter of 92 grade petrol is now sold at 1.35 manats compared to the previous price of 0.94 manats (the official dollar exchange rate amounts to 3.5 manats whereas the US dollar is purchased at 10-11 manats on the black market).

According to reports received by “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, the day before vehicles queued in at petrol stations across Turkmenistan. Car owners, frightened by rumours about the alleged price hike for petrol, are making fuel supplies for future use.
