Bishkek, Nov. 19, 2018. /Kabar/. A photo exhibition on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Chyngyz Aitmatov, organized by the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE, took place on November 15 at Hofburg Palace in Vienna.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, ambassadors of the OSCE member states, members of delegations and the staff of the OSCE Secretariat attended the photo exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of Aitmatov.
On the same day, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE Bakyt Dzhusupov spoke at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council and spoke about the life and work of the eminent Kyrgyz writer, as well as his contribution to strengthening peace and security. He told about the works of Aitmatov, which call for peace, humanism and coexistence. Dzhusupov also read out an excerpt from a work of Aitmatov entitled “The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years”, which states the idea that if humanity does not learn to live in peace, it will perish.
At the meeting, the delegations of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey also delivered their speeches congratulations on the anniversary of Aitmatov and the exhibition taking place. The delegations of friendly states took note in their speeches of the contribution of Aitmatov in the world literature, his public and diplomatic activities in strengthening peace and cooperation. The delegations also informed the OSCE member states about the events organized in their countries on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Aitmatov.
