Bishkek, Feb.24, 2020. /Kabar/. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev held a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the press service of the Government reported on Monday.
The Organizing Committee has been established in accordance with the decree of President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In the course of the meeting, PM Abylgaziev was informed about the work being done to prepare for the festivities in accordance with the previously approved Plan.
The meeting participants discussed preparations for the festive events, primarily cultural and theatrical performances, which will be held throughout the republic.
Information was also provided on measures taken to improve the social situation of veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and workers on the home front.
The meeting announced plans to hold a military parade in Bishkek and to erect a monument to Kyrgyz soldiers in the city of Rzhev (Russia).
In addition, there are plans to hold the "Fire of Victory" marathon, which will start in Osh and end on May 8 in Bishkek.
The prime minister recalled that all those who participated in the war are now over 90 years old, and there are fewer of them every year. According to him, if in 2019 there were 380 veterans in the republic, today there are 262 veterans.
"Given the historical importance of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, paying tribute to the heroism of the Soviet people, the 75th anniversary of the Victory will be celebrated as a national holiday," the head of government said.
Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev also stressed the need to work out additional measures to support war veterans and home front workers.
Following the meeting, the country’s PM instructed all relevant state bodies to ensure the planned activities at a high organizational level.
