Bishkek, Dec.17, 2019. /Kabar/. Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev met with Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan Shigeki Maeda, the Government’s press service said Tuesday.
At the meeting, the Kyrgyz prime minister noted the relations between the two countries in the political, trade, economic and cultural spheres are developing dynamically.
Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev also noted the successful implementation of the One Village - One Product (OVOP) project over the past 10 years, and called for the implementation of this project in all regions of the country.
In the course of the meeting, the head of the Kyrgyz Government stressed the importance of developing cooperation with Japan in the field of hydropower, the need to introduce new technologies that meet environmental standards and attract investors and large Japanese companies to the country.
In turn, Shigeki Maeda said he would make every effort to further strengthen the relations between the two states and develop new areas of cooperation.
The Japanese ambassador positively assessed the efforts of the state bodies in the field of digitalization, and expressed his opinion the republic has wide opportunities in the field of IT-technologies.
At the same time, he expressed readiness to provide support in the issue of training and education of specialists in this sphere.
At the end of the meeting, PM Abylgaziev awarded Senior Adviser of the One Village-One Product project of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihisa Haraguchi with the Certificate of Honor of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for the successful implementation of the project in Issyk-Kul Oblast, and for his efforts to develop the project in other regions of the country and promote domestic products in local and foreign markets.
Note that, Japan, through the One Village, One Product (OVOP) movement, has implemented the Local Community Activation Project in Issyk-Kul Oblast, which activates local communities and also creates a sustainable system for regional development (aid period: November 2006-December 2011)
This cooperation aims to create a system for implementing local policies to promote industry in public-private cooperation, as well as to enhance regional production through the establishment of the OVOP Center in the capital Bishkek, which will deal with the sale of regional products, business negotiations and technical support.
