PM Abylgaziev meets with JICA Executive Senior Vice President Koshikawa

Bishkek, Oct.24, 2019. /Kabar/. Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev met with delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), headed by Executive Senior Vice President Kazuhiko Koshikawa.

PM Abylgaziev noted the Kyrgyz side considers the development of cooperation with Japan to be one of the important directions of the country’s foreign policy, the press service of the Government reported.

The Kyrgyz PM also expressed his congratulations on the occasion of the enthronement ceremony of Emperor of Japan Naruhito, and wished prosperity to the people of Japan.

Abylgaziev highlighted number of JICA projects, and noted the One village - One Product project is being successfully implemented in Kyrgyzstan. Thanks to it, new jobs are being created in the villages.

He proposed to expand the scope of the project, starting its implementation in Batken Oblast, which has a great potential for the production of eco-products. In addition, Abylgaziev identified promising areas of cooperation, taking into account the country's hydropower potential, tourism opportunities, cooperation in the expansion of the use of electric vehicles.

In turn, JICA Executive Senior Vice President Kazuhiko Koshikawa thanked for hospitality, and noted the main directions of the projects are agriculture and entrepreneurship development. Since 2019, the focus has been on projects in tourism, healthcare, small and medium business development.

During the meeting, Kazuhiko Koshikawa expressed readiness to further develop and strengthen cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic by implementing social end economic and infrastructure projects.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is a governmental agency that coordinates Official Development Assistance (ODA) for the government of Japan. It is chartered with assisting economic and social growth in developing countries, and the promotion of international cooperation.
