Poetic competition to be held in Kyrgyzstan this spring

Bishkek, Feb. 8, 2021. / Kabar /. This year, the people of Kyrgyzstan will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the republic’s independence. One of the solemn events dedicated to this historical and significant event will be a bright poetic competition "Besh akyn" ("Five poets"), which is scheduled for March.

According to poet and press secretary of the National Union of Writers of the Kyrgyz Republic Dzhumakhun Sharipov, the decision was made at a business meeting between representative of Kyrgyzstan in the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY Kojogeldy Kuluev, chairman of the National Union of Writers of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlan Kalybekov and director of Kyrgyzstan's largest public broadcasting corporation Baktiar Aliev.

The sides signed an agreement on the regulations of this event.

The Besh Akyn festival-competition is held by age categories in 5 groups from 30 to 80 years old. There are five akyns – poets in every group, who compete in 5 nominations – reading their poem; personal translations of a poem, performance of an author song; a stage performance; answering two questions on the tickets.

The winner from each group will be awarded a TURKSOY medal and a monetary reward. The Besh Akyn Festival was held in Kyrgyzstan in 2015 and 2017.
