Polling stations abroad should be provided with necessary equipment in time: Kyrgyz deputy PM

Bishkek, Sept. 11, 2020 /Kabar/. In preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections, polling stations abroad should be provided with the necessary equipment and hygienic means of protection in time, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akram Madumarov said Friday during a meeting of the Republican Headquarters for assistance to electoral commissions in addressing issues in dealing with organizational issues and logistics of the election.

During the session, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic and the State Migration Service under the Government provided information about the provision of adequate conditions for voting of compatriots who are abroad and the process of collecting biometric data.

As it was noted, 44 polling stations have been established abroad. The issues of providing them with appropriate material and technical basis and hygienic means of protection are being worked out.

In addition, information was heard about ensuring public order during the preparation and holding of parliamentary elections. According to information from the republic’s Internal Ministry, a corresponding action plan has been developed.

"It is important to create all necessary conditions for citizens abroad to participate in parliamentary elections. All organizational issues must be fulfilled in a timely manner," Deputy Prime Minister Madumarov concluded.

The parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan will be held on Oct. 4.
