Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2021 . / Kabar / . Polling stations for voting in elections of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh was opened in Tehran and Istanbul, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
The polling station in Tehran was opened at the Kyrgyz Embassy at 8:00 a.m. local time (10:30 a.m. Bishkek time) with the playing of the national anthem of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Citizens of Kyrgyzstan citizens permanently and temporarily residing in the cities of Tehran, Qazvin, Qom and Karaj are expected to take part in the elections.
In addition, the voting process started in Istanbul in the building of the Consulate General of Kyrgyzstan in the Turkish capital at 8: 00 a.m. local time.
In accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the polling station in the above cities will be closed at 8:00 p.m. local time.
The parliamentary elections are being held in Kyrgyzstan by using a mixed electoral system. 54 deputies are to be elected according to the proportional system in single electoral constituencies, while 36 deputies are to be elected from single-mandate constituencies on a majority basis.
Earlier the parliament of Kyrgyzstan consisted of 120 deputies elected for a five-year term according to party lists.
