Population and housing census in Kyrgyzstan will be held in electronic format

Bishkek, Nov. 1, 2019. / Kabar /. From March 23 to April 1, 2020, a census of the population and housing stock will be held in Kyrgyzstan, the Bishkek Mayor’s Office said.

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov noted the need for the upcoming census of the population and housing by using modern technologies, the report said.

This time, the National Statistics Committee will use a software product based on the Survey Solutions application developed by the World Bank. The mobile application will be in two languages: in Kyrgyz and Russian.

The electronic platform has already been tested in some regions of the country in off-line mode.

The results of testing the mobile application showed a number of advantages compared to paper questionnaires:

- Cost savings and reduced data processing time;

- Improved data quality: automatic routing and editing;

- Ability to track the progress of the census in real time ;.

- More effective interaction with census takers.

The press service said that for security and protection of personal data of the population, the application will not be exposed in the public domain.

Earlier the census was carried out by the traditional method of collecting information about the population using paper questionnaires, by interviewing the population with specially trained census takers, regardless of the availability of registration and the right to housing.
