Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2022. / Kabar /. Based on the results of the first stage of processing the results of the population census, the actual population of Kyrgyzstan became known, the National Statistical Committee of the country reported.
The National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted an electronic population and housing census in two stages (from March 25 to April 3, 2022 and in remote areas from April 23 to May 2, 2022).
Population census data is the main source of demographic statistics, which are carried out every 10 years. According to the results of the population census, in comparison with the 2009 census, the number of the permanent population of the country increased by 1.6 million people over 13 years and amounted to an average annual growth rate of 2.1%.
In accordance with international recommendations, in the period between censuses, for population calculations, the database of the last population census and the data of the current record of demographic events (births, deaths, arrivals and departures across the country) are used, which are monthly provided by the civil registry and registration system of population migration.
In the period from January to July of the current year, the calculation of the population was carried out on the basis of the results of the 2009 population census and monthly data on the current record of demographic events. And starting from August 2022, the calculation of the number is based on the results of the 2022 population census and amounted to 6 million 977 thousand people as of August 1, 2022.
