Bishkek, April 1, 2022 . / Kabar /. Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Doskul Bekmurzaev summed up the results of the successful work in the heating season. He wrote about it on his Facebook page.
The minister wrote that despite the skepticism of some politicians and experts about the energy collapse and rolling blackouts, the ministry "passed" the winter well.
"We spent the heating season without one of the units of the Toktogul hydropower plant, which is to be replaced. There was a threat of idle water discharge, but we did not allow it. We also fulfilled all President Sadyr Zhaparov’s requirements regarding the tariff policy. Tariffs were reduced for socially vulnerable segments of the population and restriction on consumption to 700 kWh in mountainous areas was removes,” Bekmurzaev wrote.
He noted that the energy sector is undergoing major reforms this year, which are already in the process of being completed.
"Our energy companies are merging. There will be two large energy companies in Kyrgyzstan - one will uniteall hydropower plants and enterprises engaged in the generation of electricity, and the second will distribute and transmit it to the population,” the minister said.
In addition, the amount for the accumulated debt of KGS 136 billion will be transferred to the Ministry of Finance of the republic.
"This year we will free ourselves from debts and solve large-scale tasks. In summer we will start construction of hydropower plant Kambar-Ata 1. We already have about $20 million to start with. Those who want to take part in this project can join,” Minister Bekmurzaev wrote.
