Bishkek, Dec. 14, 2020. /Kabar/. Over the past 24 hours, a record amount of electricity was consumed in Kyrgyzstan, Emil Kudanaliev, the Director General of the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan (NESK) told during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.

According to him, the situation in the electricity system is alarming. Due to the onset of cold weather, electricity consumption is increasing day by day.
"We have reached a record. In the past 24 hours, power consumption in terms of capacity reached a record high of 3,240 MW. The previous record was set on Jan. 29, 2018, when temperatures were -20...-30 degrees and totaled 3,224 MW. And now a temperature is only -10 degrees,” Kudanaliyev said.
The NESK director general noted the Kyrgyz Government limits for December are 1 billion 886 million kWh. In the past day, the electricity consumption made 68 million 800 thousand kWh.
"Electricity consumption in neighboring countries is also growing. Meanwhile, the worst situation is observed in Bishkek. We are carrying out intra-grid measures," Kudanaliyev added.
