Election campaign starts in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sep 10, 2017. / Kabar /. Pre-election campaign has started in Kyrgyzstan on night 10 September.

Thus, from now on, candidates and their representatives can conduct full-scale campaigning, which ends one day before the voting day, that is, October 1.

This time, 13 candidates will compete for the post of the country's presidents.

List of candidates:

- Sooronbai Zheenbekov - ex-prime minister of Kyrgyzstan (nominated by the SDPK party);

- Omurbek Babanov - leader of Respublika Ata Jurt parliamentary faction (self-nominated);

- Temir Sariev - ex-prime minister of Kyrgyzstan (nominated from the Ak-Shumkar party);

- Bakyt Torobaev - leader of Onuguu-Progress parliamentary faction (nominated from the party);

- Toktayim Umetalieva - human rights activist (self-nominated);

- Azimbek Beknazarov - politician (self-nominated);

- Arstanbek Abdyldaev - leader of El uchun the party ("For the people") (self-nominated);

- Ulukbek Kochkorov - ex-deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the V convocation (self-nominated);

- Arslanbek Maliyev - leader of the Party of non-partisan Aalam (self-nominated);

- Taalai Masadykov - ex-political director of the UN special political mission in Afghanistan, (self-nominated);

- Kamchibek Tashiev - a politician (nominated from the Ata-Jurt party);

- Ernis Zarlykov - ex-first-vice-mayor of Bishkek (self-nominated);

- Adakhan Madumarov - the leader of the Butun Kyrgyzstan party (nominated from the Butun Kyrgyzstan party).

Recall that citizens who have passed biometric data will be admitted to vote in the elections.

Results of elections should be announced no later than 20 calendar days after the voting day ends.

The term of office of the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev ends on December 1, 2017.

According to the Constitution, in Kyrgyzstan a person has the right to be elected to the presidency only once for a period of 6 years.
