Presentation of EBRD's new 5-year strategy for Kyrgyzstan held in London

Bishkek, Oct. 24, 2024 . / Kabar / . A presentation of the new 5-year strategy of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Kyrgyzstan took place at the Bank's headquarters in London.

The event was attended by the EBRD management, Kyrgyz Ambassador to the United Kingdom Ulan Dzhusupov, and Kyrgyz citizens working in the EBRD, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.

The main objective of the new strategy is to support the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan, to ensure sustainable economic growth and to attract investment in key sectors of the economy.

In his speech, Ambassador Dzhusupov stressed the importance of the strategy for the implementation of the country's ambitious plans to modernize infrastructure, support the private sector, promote a green economy and digitalization.

"Kyrgyzstan is experiencing a new stage of development. More than 100 new enterprises have been opened this year, indicating significant progress in industry and job creation. The country's economy is showing stable growth, with GDP growth averaging 7% over the past three years," the ambassador noted.

The event ended with an informal meeting where representatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora were able to discuss strategic issues and ask questions of interest to Ambassador Dzhusupov.

Over the years of cooperation, the EBRD has implemented 248 projects in the Kyrgyz Republic for the amount of EUR 996 million. The EBRD's 5-year strategy was developed jointly with the Kyrgyz side and is aimed at promoting sustainable development of the Kyrgyz Republic, improving the quality of life of the population and supporting innovation and new technologies.
