Bishkek, Nov. 7, 2018. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov visited Ata-Beyit memorial complex today, on November 7, in connection with the Day of History and Ancestral Memory, where he read a prayer in memory of the ancestors and compatriots resting there, laid wreaths to the monuments and made an appeal to the people of Kyrgyzstan.

The press service of the President’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that the President’s address is as follows:

“Dear compatriots!

Dear Kyrgyzstanis!

This year, we are marking the Day of History and Ancestral Memory for the second time.

The history of Kyrgyzstan is a great history of which we can be proud.

Difficult years in the Russian Empire, the national liberation struggle of 1916 and the great exodus - Urkun brought great challenges to our people.

After the victory of the February, then the October Socialist Revolution of 1917, in Russia there was a sharp turn in the fate of the Kyrgyz people.

In 1924, the autonomous oblast was formed, then the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic was established. Through many centuries, our statehood was revived.

In Soviet times, the economy, culture, science, education and health care developed rapidly. Kyrgyzstan became a country with a developed agro-industrial economy.

At the same time, the Soviet era was accompanied by political persecution, exile and dispossession of the kulaks, mass repression.

The events of that time, filled with deep drama and tragedy, left an indelible imprint in the history of the Kyrgyz people.

80 years ago, on November 5-7-8, 1938, 138 prominent citizens of Kyrgyzstan were shot here, in Chon-Tash, among which were the founders of our state, Zhusup Abdrakhmanov, Murat Salikhov, Osmonkul Aliyev, Bayaly Isakeev, Kasym Tynystanov, Erkinbek Esenamanov Torekul Aitmatov, Imanaly Aidarbekov and others.

For 53 years no one had known about the graves, and only in 1991 did Bubusara Kydyraliyeva eje discover the terrible secret of the old brick factory in Chon-Tash.

And on August 30, 1991, a state mourning ceremony for the reburial of the remains of the victims of Stalinist purges found in Chon-Tash was held. The next day, on August 31, 1991, independence of sovereign Kyrgyzstan was proclaimed.

Among them were the remains of the father of our great writer Chyngyz Aitmatov - Torekul Aitmatov.

Probably, it was so marked by fate that in 2008, when Chyngyz Aitmatov passed away, he was buried next to his father, in the area called by him “Ata-Beyit” - “The Grave of Fathers”.

Dear compatriots!

In Kyrgyzstan, the number of people exiled in 1932 reached thousands of people, in 1933 more than 5 thousand people were condemned as “class enemies” and kulaks.

Then, in 1937, political persecution began to become tougher and continued until 1939.

Hundreds of workers, peasants, representatives of creative and technical intelligentsia, specialists of the national economy, party and Komsomol workers became victims of political persecution.

In total, according to recent studies, in the 1930s, more than 20 thousand people became victims of the purges in the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

It was certainly a great tragedy, an irreparable loss for the Kyrgyz people.

It is unfortunate that the place where the remains of those who became out of favor for the authorities and unjustly shot or hanged were had been unknown to the society for many years.

Only in 1996-1997 the first special collections were published, where a list of more than 8 thousand people was published.

The same work was continued by the State Committee for National Security, having recently released the third collection entitled “Restoration of Historical Justice”, which included lists of 1,898 citizens who were victims of political repression of the 30s and 50s.

Information on more than 20 thousand victims of political repression has been systematized, a ten-volume collection entitled “The White Book”, which consists of 3 thousand pages, has been published.

The aforementioned books are a tribute to our memory before our citizens, their descendants, who were victims of terrible repression.

It is necessary to continue this work, collect information about innocently convicted, executed people, report it to their close people, the whole public.

As great thinker and humanist Chyngyz Aitmatov said, "We are alive because we remember the past, we care about the future."

Dear compatriots!

Today we have gathered in the national historical memorial complex “Ata-Beyit”, where the remains of our worthy sons, the first enlighteners, those who laid the foundations of the statehood of Kyrgyzstan, who were shot as “enemies of the people”, rest.

In 2010, a memorial was built in the territory of the complex in honor of the memory of those killed during the April People’s Revolution. They lost their lives defending the country from authoritarianism, opened the way for the development of democracy in Kyrgyzstan.

In 2016, a special memorial complex was opened on the occasion of the 100th year from the Urkun tragedy.

Today, the complex “Ata-Beyit” has become a holy place of worship in Kyrgyzstan, where heroes rest, who made history with their lives and blood.

Dear compatriots!

Today, a worthy society is growing in Kyrgyzstan, which respects its history. We have become a state with the strongest civil society.

Only by deeply understanding the history and taking into account its lessons will Kyrgyzstan be able to correctly determine the direction of development in the future, will create a strong foundation for the next generation, will occupy a its rightful place in today's world.

We respect and support the aspirations of each ethnic group to study and spread its history and culture.

At the same time, it is necessary to create such conditions so that every Kyrgyzstani, not forgetting about his faith and ethnicity, understands that he is a citizen of Kyrgyzstan and was proud of it.

In their centuries-old historical path, the Kyrgyz people created their own national idea, unbreakable philosophy, spiritual wealth.

One of these national holy ideas is the freedom of the motherland, its independence.

We owe it to our ancestors and children, to the future generation, to preserve our state and independence like the apple of one's eye.

The Almighty gave us the historical opportunity to build a united, strong, developed Kyrgyz state. We must not miss this opportunity.

We deeply feel that we are descendants of the Great Kyrgyz, who have passed many challenges on a difficult historical path, that our country has a centuries-old great history, we will highly raise the flag of the Kyrgyz people and will faithfully preserve our national dignity.

Dear compatriots!

We have only one homeland. This is Kyrgyzstan!

Let us bow our heads before the memory of our compatriots, who died for the sake of the motherland, our land, for the sake of justice and freedom!

May such dark events never happen in the life of our people!

May the Almighty save our people from troubles, grief and upheaval!

Gives us unity and peace! ”
