Bishkek, Jan.14, 2025. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic ‘On Introduction of Moratorium on Transfer (Transformation) of Irrigated Arable Land into Other Categories of Land and Types of Land’.
This Law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on Dec. 12, 2024.
The adopted Law introduces amendments aimed at improving the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On introduction of moratorium on the transfer (transformation) of irrigated arable land into other categories of land and types of suitable land”, where it is envisaged to exclude the words “being only in state or municipal ownership” in paragraph 3 of part two of article 1 of the said Law.
It follows that the moratorium will not apply to the transfer (transformation) of irrigated arable lands into lands allocated for the construction of general education and health care facilities, physical fitness and recreation complexes, veterinary, phytosanitary and agrobiochemical laboratories, regardless of the form of ownership.
In addition, paragraph 8 of part two of article 1 of the Law is set out in the wording according to which the lands allocated for the construction of water management facilities are excluded from the moratorium.
