President criticizes activities of Republican Headquarters to combat COVID-19

Bishkek, March 31, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, March 31 President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov held a regular narrow format meeting of the country's Security Council.

The meeting considered strengthening measures, aimed at preventing further spread of coronavirus infection and ensuring the country's food security, the press service of the President reported.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed that the growing number of coronavirus infected citizens in the country is the result of unsatisfactory work on preventive measures.

The Kyrgyz leader criticized the activities of the Republican Headquarters (Headquarters for Preventing Import and Further Spread of Coronavirus in the Kyrgyz Republic), the Ministry of Health for the shortcomings in their work, primarily for the late identification of the circle of people who had contact with the infected, which served as an additional factor in the spread of the disease in the country.

"The Security Council has met four times on this issue. The main areas of work were defined in detail. As a result, we see that some decisions of the Council are not implemented," the President stressed.

Jeenbekov separately criticized the activities of the leadership of the Health Ministry for untimely preparation for laboratory research, insufficient equipment of laboratories with medical equipment and preparation of a stock of consumables for testing.

The head of state emphasized the citizens are dissatisfied with the activities of the commandant offices, including the issuance of special passes, provision checkpoints with necessary equipment, ensuring the safety of employees at roadblocks.

Head of the Republican Headquarters - First Deputy PM Kubatbek Boronov, Head of the Republican Headquarters for the implementation of measures, aimed at minimizing the impact of the coronavirus infection on the economic situation of the country - Deputy PM Erkin Asrandiyev, Health Minister Kosmosbek Cholponbayev, Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Rayimberdi Duishenbiev, Interior Minister Kashkar Dzhunushaliyev, Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Reclamation Erkinbek Choduyev made reports at the Council’s meeting.

Following the regular meeting of the Security Council, a number of recommendations were made to the Government.

Also, the Security Council made a proposal to PM of the republic to take measures against individual Government members for insufficient work to prevent the penetration of coronavirus infection into the country and its spread.

As of March 31, there are 107 cases of coronavirus infection in the Kyrgyz Republic. Three of patients infected have recovered.

From March 25 to April 15, a state of emergency is in force in the cities of Bishkek, Osh and Dzhalal-Abad, Nookat and Kara-Suu regions of Osh Oblast and in Suzak region of Dzhalal-Abad Oblast.

Movement for all citizens, except for those who are issued with a pass, namely internal affairs officers and medical and civil servants, is limited between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. (night time). A curfew is established.
