Bishkek, July 10, 2023. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov visited on Monday the Erdenet state enterprise in Erdenet city within the framework of his state visit to Mongolia.
The head of state was informed that the plant is considered the largest enterprise for mining and concentration of copper and molybdenum ores in Asia, processes up to 40 million tons of ore and produces about 580 thousand tons of copper concentrate and 6 thousand tons of molybdenum concentrate per year.
The company has been in operation since 1973, when the Soviet and Mongolian governments established a joint venture to develop the Erdenet copper-molybdenum deposit, which to this day remains one of the largest copper ore deposits in the world.
Today, the company holds an important position in the international copper market, plays a significant role in the development of the Mongolian economy, participating in the formation of the state budget of the country.
Sadyr Zhaparov toured the open pit mine and the factory of the enterprise, where copper-molybdenum concentrate exported abroad is produced.
During the visit to the plant, the Kyrgyz delegation familiarized with the technical and technological transformations of the plant, in particular, with Mongolia's experience in using advanced technologies to extract copper from the ore of the Erdenet deposit.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the mining industry occupies a special place in the economy of Kyrgyzstan, as well as in the economy of Mongolia.
Kyrgyzstan has great potential in this sector, therefore there is interest in studying the rich experience of Mongolia in this area.
The Kyrgyz leader expressed interest in cooperation in training and advanced training of specialists in mining and geology, exchange and joint scientific research on various topical and promising areas of geology and mining.
He invited the management of the Erdenet plant together with the competent structures of Kyrgyzstan to consider areas of cooperation in areas of mutual interest to the parties.
