President instructs to create fund to pay rewards to citizens who report corruption

It is necessary to introduce as soon as possible the remuneration of persons who reported facts of corruption and corruption crimes against the interests of the people and the state, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said during the first meeting of the Anti-Corruption Business Council on Tuesday.

The Kyrgyz leader added that one of the mechanisms to address this issue could be the creation of a specialized fund under the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan to pay a lump sum remuneration to persons who reported corruption offenses on the basis of a judicial act that entered into legal force.

"There is also need to provide measures of state support, including financial support, to non-profit public organizations carrying out anti-corruption activities, in accordance with the priority areas of anti-corruption activities, anti-corruption education in order to create an atmosphere of intolerance to corrupt practices in society," Zhaparov said.

The president of Kyrgyzstan noted that at present society needs a new ideology, namely the ideology of being a non-corrupt official, a non-corrupt businessman, citizens not to exalt corrupt officials and not to sell their votes.

"Only then can we reach the point of no return to corruption," he added.

The first meeting of the Anti-Corruption Business Council under the President of Kyrgyzstan is being held with the participation of members of the Council, observer members - development partners, representatives of government agencies.

The main directions of the country's anti-corruption strategy, topical issues of the implementation of anti-corruption legislation in government bodies and local self-government bodies, the role of a business association in the fight against corruption, etc. are being discussed.
