President Jeenbekov casts vote in parliamentary elections

Bishkek, Oct. 4, 2020 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov casted his vote in the parliamentary elections, which has started today at 8 a.m. local time.

The head of state fulfilled his civic duty at the polling station # 1327 in Bishkek, according to the President’s press service.

“We did our best to make the elections fair and transparent. All parties were given equal opportunities. The new parties had the opportunity to participate in the elections on equal terms,” said President Sooronbay Jeenbekov in his press statement following the completion of the voting process.

He emphasized that there were no restrictions on the PR of political programs, party debates were widely broadcast on TV channels, and the election campaign was held in conditions of strong political competition.

The President also expressed gratitude to the journalists for the objective and comprehensive coverage of the campaign.

“Thanks to your work, we once again became convinced that we have a strong civil society, unlimited freedom of speech. I, as a president, have fulfilled all my obligations so that these elections are open and fair," Jeenbekov stressed.

The head of state once again made an appeal to the Kyrgyz people, noting that today the fate of the country is being decided not only for the next 5 years.

“Therefore, each of us must come to the polling station and make our political choice. We will be in the center of attention of the international community today. I am confident that we will show high civic activity and political culture. For all of us, the interests of the country are above all,” concluded Jeenbekov.
