Bishkek, Feb. 18, 2020 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov met today with Business Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic Robin Ord-Smith.
At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on measures to improve the system for protecting the rights and freedoms of business entities in the country, the Kyrgyz president’s press service reported.
Jeenbekov congratulated Robin Ord-Smith on the successful launch and the start of the full-fledged functioning of the Institute of Business Ombudsman.
He noted that at the last second meeting of the Committee on Industry and Enterprise Development under the National Council for Sustainable Development of the Kyrgyz Republic a number of priority issues touching upon by representatives of the business community were considered.
Jeenbekov emphasized that one of the main problems voiced by entrepreneurs is the lack of mutual understanding and effective coordination between the business environment, as well as fiscal and law enforcement structures, in connection with which business circles indicate a worsening business climate and an outflow of investments from the country.
President Jeenbekov expressed confidence that the experience of Robin Ord-Smith will help establish effective mechanisms for protecting business and investment, improve the legislative framework and remove existing barriers so that government agencies and entrepreneurs become effective partners.
He emphasized the importance of improving the existing mechanisms for pre-trial settlement of disputes between entrepreneurs and state bodies and once again expressed confidence that the institution of the Business Ombudsman will be able to win the trust of entrepreneurs and, together with government agencies, provide effective protection of business.
Business Ombudsman Robin Ord-Smith thanked the president for his confidence, noting that the support of the country's top leadership is extremely important in his work.
“The fact that a foreign citizen headed the institution of the Business Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan is an indicator of the country's openness to foreign investments,” said Robin Ord-Smith.
He assured that he would make every effort to ensure guarantees of legal protection of the legitimate interests of entrepreneurs and their observance by state authorities.
