President Jeenbekov visits National Bank’s data center

Bishkek, Jan.17, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, Jan. 17 President Sooronbay Jeenbekov visited the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Jeenbekov got acquainted with the activities of the Bank’s Data Processing Center (data center), his press service said.

Chairman of the National Bank Tolkunbek Abdygulov said the Bank’s data center is the only such center in Central Asia that has been certified by the Uptime Institute international independent organization in the field of IT, recognized worldwide.

The Kyrgyz leader emphasized digitalization of the banking sector is one of the important directions of the state policy on digital transformation of the country and an integral part of building the digital economy.

"I am very pleased that such a large-scale project has been implemented by domestic specialists. Our IT specialists have great potential, if they are provided with the necessary support, they will be able to implement many projects," said Jeenbekov.

Chairman Tolkunbek Abdygulov said the data center is designed to perform the main tasks of National Bank is to ensure the operation of payment and trade systems, systems of interstate payments and settlements, receipt and processing of banking reports within the framework of banking supervision, the system of electronic document flow, organization of information exchange through the Tunduk electronic system of interagency cooperation, systems for internal operational activities of the Bank, etc.

The Bank’s chairman added that within the Year of Regional Development, Digitalization of the Country and Support for Children a number of important events are planned this year.

Plans are being discussed with the relevant structures - the State Registration Service and the State Committee for Information Technologies and Communication to provide remote identification for citizens, which will allow them to confirm their identity and receive public and financial services via mobile phone.

The pilot implementation of the project will start within six months, full implementation is expected before the end of 2020.

President Sooronbay Jeenbekov gave a positive assessment of the indicators of the banking sector, including the state policy on regional development and digitalization of the country.

The head of state pointed to the need to continue and strengthen work in this area.
