President Jeenbekov’s final press conference lasted for 3.5 hours

Bishkek, Dec. 19, 2018. / Kabar /. A press conference of President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov devoted to the results of the year has concluded in Bishkek.

It is worth noting that this is his first his meeting as head of state with journalists, where the results of his activities for the year were discussed. In total, the event was attended by 179 journalists from 84 media outlets, including from foreign and regional media organizations.

Initially, the meeting was planned for 2.5 hours, but the president agreed to extend the time of the press conference for another hour at the request of journalists who did not have time to ask a question. Each of them received the right to ask two questions, in total 40 journalists had time to use their chance.

Most of the media representatives were interested in the position of the president in relation to the clan rule, taking measures regarding specific individuals accused by the public of corruption, as well as initiatives to amend the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic on depriving the president of immunity.

In addition, Jeenbekov answered questions about his family and relatives' attitudes toward government, about his daily routine and plans for the presidency.

The president was also asked about the country's position on common issues with partner countries, namely, on ethnic Kyrgyz in Chinese camps, on building a second Russian military base in the south of the republic.

On a number of questions based on investigative journalism, he promised to carefully examine the facts and give specific answers later.

In general, the president did not leave any question unanswered, despite the fact that some of them were repeated.

At the end of the press conference, Jeenbekov had a launch with journalists, where they could ask questions in informal setting. The President gave a friendly attention to each appeal and did not shy away from joint photos. He also congratulated journalist on the upcoming New Year, wishing all the best to journalists and their families.
