President Jeenbekov’s press secretary provides details on his phone talk with Parliament speaker

Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2020. /Kabar/. Tolgonai Stamaliyeva, the press secretary of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov provided details on his telephone conversation with Parliament Speaker Myktybek Abdyldayev held on Thursday.

According to her, the president holds personal talks with heads of political forces of the country, who want to stabilize the current situation in legal framework. Today’s talks was focused on this issue. First of all, the Kyrgyz leader noted the main thing for him now is to deal with the situation withinh the law.

"Jeenbekov once again emphasized that he remains a legitimate president and a parliament is legitimate body. The head of the state touched upon the issues of personnel appointments, which are currently underway in the country and the need to legitimize them. During the conversation, the issue of impeachment, which is being discussed in the Parliament, was touched upon also. The president noted that now he prioritizes bringing the situation in conformity with the law, and further he is ready to discuss all other issues that have arisen due to the current situation," Stamaliyeva said.

After the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan held on Oct. 4 some political parties, who lost the elections, organized protests on Monday demanding to annul the election results. The protests rose to clashes between police and protesters.

The participants of the protest action seized the Parliament building and other strategic objects, released some formed officials from jail. The country’s prime minister and parliament speaker resigned.

The Central Election Commission annulled on Tuesday the results of the elections.
