Bishkek, Nov.19, 2019. /Kabar/. Major national projects in Kyrgyzstan, aimed at increasing the country's economic potential, will be implemented by 2023, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said during the High-Level International Donor Conference.

He stressed the main goal in the energy sector is to meet the country's demand for electricity and export it to other countries by using the large hydropower potential.

“Effective implementation of the CASA-1000 project will significantly increase the export potential of the country to the countries of South-East Asia. We face the task of large-scale reconstruction of existing hydropower facilities and construction of new ones.

These include the Kambarata-1 HPP and the Upper Naryn HPP cascade, Kazarman HPP cascade.A total of $4.5 billion is needed to achieve these objectives. In implementing these projects, the role of international financial institutions with experience in building energy facilities and attracting new technologies is very important for us,” said the President.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov called on international institutions to work to attract investment for the construction of small hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan.

“Green energy development is a new but very important area for us. Therefore, we need the support of our partners,” he added.
