President notes need to save republican budget expenditures

Bishkek, Mar.16, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov received on Monday Finance Minister Baktygul Jeenbayeva, his press service said.

The current situation with the execution of the republican budget and measures to save budgetary resources in the light of the situation, related to the spread of coronavirus in neighboring countries and in the world were discussed.

Minister Jeenbayeva noted that taking into account the existing risks, the execution of the republican budget for the current year is projected to be about 85% of the previously approved plan.

She stressed since the last meeting of the Security Council all kinds of budget savings are being considered.

Baktygul Jeenbayeva noted active talks are underway with the donor community, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund and other international financial institutions to provide resources to support the republican budget.

President Jeenbekov once again stressed the country should be ready for threats and challenges related to the spread of coronavirus in the world.

He pointed out the need to switch to the regime of saving national budget expenditures until the situation in the region and in the world stabilizes.

At the same time, the Kyrgyz leader stressed that savings should not affect the measures within the framework of digital transformation of the country, judicial and legal reform, reform of law enforcement agencies, including those ensuring road and public safety, reconstruction of emergency schools.

Jeenbekov noted the special need for the state to fulfill all social obligations in terms of paying salaries, allowances, pensions and other social payments.
