Bishkek, Jan.24, 2020 /Kabar/. “Number of significant results have been achieved in the fight against corruption, but this is not enough,” Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said at the regular meeting of the Security Council.

The Council’s meeting is taking place at the Ala-Archa state residence.

According to the President’s press service, the meeting is considering the implementation of the Council’s decisions, adopted at its meetings in 2018 and 2019, as well as proposals to the list of strategic objects of the country.

In his opening speech, the President focused on the topical issues considered at the previous meetings of the Security Council, which are of priority importance.

President Jeenbekov noted three enlarged meetings of the Security Council had been held in the past two years. A number of strategic decisions aimed at changing the situation have been taken. A strong impetus was given to the fight against corruption, and this activity was defined as a priority

He recalled the decision taken at the first meeting of the Security Council, held on Febr.8, 2018, was aimed at completing the judicial and legal reform and eradicating corruption.

"Today we should discuss this matter thoroughly. The Security Council’s decision of Dec.14, 2018 approved the Digital Kyrgyzstan 2019-2023 Concept.

The concept aims to introduce new approaches to public administration by creating a digital society, eradicating corruption and creating an open society,” Jeenbekov added.

Besides, the Kyrgyz leader stressed that the decision of the Security Council dated Jan. 14, 2019 was aimed at eliminating problems in the use of mineral resources and mining sector.

"We also considered issues of rational use of minerals, ensuring environmental and technical safety, accounting of reserves of deposits. Special attention was paid to eliminating corruption in the licensing system. We proposed measures to prevent resale of licenses without introducing corresponding activities in the fields. We discussed mechanisms to prevent local governments from creating artificial barriers and obstacles to investors' work in the field," Jeenbekov informed.

“The progress of implementation of all Security Council’s decisions is under my personal control.

All data coming from state bodies were thoroughly analyzed in the Secretariat of the Security Council and reported to me on a monthly basis," Jeenbekov informed.

The regular meeting of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan with the participation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov is taking place at the Ala-Archa state residence.

There are two issues on the agenda of the Security Council's: the implementing the decisions of the Security Council and proposals to the list of strategic objects of Kyrgyz Republic.

The meeting will result in the adoption of a decision of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic consists of the President - Chairman of the Council, parliament speaker, prime minister, head of the President’s Office, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, deputy PM, chairman of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) in charge of defense and security issues, the Security Council’s secretary, prosecutor general, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Internal Affairs, Emergency Situations, Chairmen of the State Border Service and State Committee for National Security.
