Bishkek, Feb. 4, 2022. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov called the future Chinese-Kyrgyz-Uzbek railway the road of friendship, good neighborliness and sustainable development and expressed confidence that its construction will begin in the near future.

In his interview with CGTN during his working visit to China, the Kyrgyz president said that this project is large-scale in terms of economic potential.

“The construction of this road will increase the transport and transit potential not only of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, but also of the entire Central Asian region, since the existing railways can no longer cope with the growing flow of goods from China to the countries of the region, as well as to European countries. It will also make it possible to create international multimodal logistics centers and form a network of industrial clusters. This project is always on the agenda of bilateral relations, there are no political disagreements about its essence and expediency, there are only issues related to the technical aspects and financial component of the project, which are currently being worked on by specialists from the three countries. I am sure that by joint efforts, in the near future, we will begin the construction of this road, which is designed to become a road of friendship, good neighborliness and sustainable development,” he noted.

President Sadyr Zhaparov is visiting China at the invitation of Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

During the working visit on Feb. 3-6, the Kyrgyz president will participate in the opening ceremony of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing and hold a meeting with President Xi Jinping.
