President of Kyrgyzstan extends condolences to Xi Jinping in connection with victims in coal mine collapse in Shaanxi

Bishkek, Jan. 14, 2019 /Kabar/ President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov expressed his condolences to Chinese leader Xi Jinping in connection with the loss of life as a result of coal mine collapse in Shenmucity of Shaanxi Province, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.

“With deep regret I took the sad news of the dead from the collapse of the coal mine in Shenmu, Shaanxi Province,” said the President of Kyrgyzstan.

Jeenbekov, on behalf of the people of Kyrgyzstan and on his own behalf, expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and also wished a speedy recovery to all the injured.

“In this difficult time, we share the bitterness of loss,” he said in his message.

According to Xinhua, the death toll in a coal mine roof collapse in northwest China's Shaanxi Province has risen to 21.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lijiagou coal mine of the Baiji Mining Co. Ltd. in the city of Shenmu.

At that time, 87 people were working underground. Sixty-six of them were lifted to safety after the accident.
