President of Kyrgyzstan offers his German counterpart to exchange external debt for implementation of ecology projects

Bishkek, June 22, 2023. / Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, during extended negotiations with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, raised the issue of financial and technical cooperation, asked the German side to provide support in restoring Kyrgyzstan to the list of Germany's partner countries for financial and technical cooperation.

“Let me express my gratitude to the German side for the conversion of the debt in the amount of EUR 14.9 million. Currently, these funds are directed to mortgage lending to residents living in the regions of the country, mainly from the least vulnerable social strata. Germany was the first to show readiness for the conversion of the external debt of Kyrgyzstan and showed a vivid example to other countries. We greatly appreciate your kind gesture. In this regard, I would like to propose to the German side to consider the possibility of exchanging external debt for the implementation of projects in the field of ecology,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.
