President of Kyrgyzstan plans to attend opening of photo exhibition dedicated to Aitamtov in New York

Bishkek, Sept. 20, 2018. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov plans to attend the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov within his visit to New York, USA, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Kyrgyz President’s Office Daniyar Sydykov told at a press conference at Kabar News Agency.

On September 25 in the afternoon, Sooronbay Jeenbekov will deliver a speech at the General Debate of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

An official meeting with the UN Secretary General Mr. Antonio Gutteres and leaders of foreign countries participating in the assembly is also planned to take place during the visit.

"It is also planned that the President will attend the opening of the photo exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov. At the same time, a high-level event is planned to be hold in New York jointly with the European Union on the dangers of previous uranium mining activities in Central Asia, where Kyrgyzstan proposed to update the UN General Assembly resolution - the role of the international community in preventing radiation threats in Central Asia ", Sydykov said.

The purpose of this resolution is to move to a new stage of the action on reclamation of uranium tailings.

First Vice Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov will take part in this event.
